Re: BCC 2010 Summer Select All-Star Programs
Many of you may know that the BCC Select All Stars play in 3 or 4 Summer Baseball Tournaments for each age group (10U, 11U, 12U, & 13U). In this letter we hope to answer as many questions as possible. Most tournaments span 2 to 4 days. The All Star Program has been the highlight of many of our young players’ careers. In developing the All Star Program we recognize that each player and his family may have summer scheduling conflicts with tournament dates and practice commitments. This is why we are providing detailed information at this early date to help guide you in making summer plans and also to provide each player in Minor/Major Select the opportunity to try out for a spot on an All Star team. For those who have not experienced an All Star summer, be assured it is a truly wonderful opportunity that will create family memories for a lifetime. The 2010 Select All Star Program promises to be one you will want to be involved in. This announcement will give you an advance look at what will be expected and what you can look forward to this summer.
Tryouts:
Every player currently in the Select League is eligible to Tryout for the All Star Team.
The try out process (similar to Select Tryouts) will evaluate each player’s skills and will be scored by a group of BCC Professional coaches. Tryouts for 10U & 11U will be held Saturday, April 10th from 1:30 to 4:00 pm. Tryouts for 12U & 13U will be held Saturday, April 17th from 1:30 to 4:00 pm. The locations for these tryouts will be announced at a later date. The scores will be analyzed and will result in a ranking of each player to be used in the draft by the All Star selection committee. Current Select Head Coaches will be able to provide feedback that can be used during the selection process. The Players selected will be posted on the BCC Web Site on Wed April 22.Acceptance of the roster slot by the player and parents will be needed by Monday April, 26 by 12 noon. Alternates will be offered Roster Slots on a case by case basis on Monday Afternoon 4/26.Please look for All Star Tryout Pre – Registration sign up form on the BCC Web Site by March 1st .
Coaches:
Coaches will be selected after the Players are selected. Each team will have one Head Coach, one assistant Coach, and a Team Manager / Coordinator. If you would like to be considered for one of these positions please email Doug Cashmere at SUMMERALLSTARS1@AOL.COM.
Practice:
Weekly practices will be at the discretion of the Coach – Plan for one practice per week through the Final Tournament although it is not unusual to have 2 the week before a tournament. Regular practice will start after the Select season has been completed. Each team will have a couple of practices before the first tournament Memorial Day weekend May 28-31. The 13 U Select All Stars will start practice in early May in preparation for the move to the larger field. Each of the All-Star coaches will be encouraged to find practice time that does not conflict with the existing Select Team commitment.
Tournament Commitment:
Each Age group will have Four Tournaments.
We would like for each player to commit to a minimum of three of the four Tournaments that fit into the family summer plans.
